Let me tell you the seriousness of my coffee habits. Every piece of coffee gear for road life in this blog; I actually have and use, not only when living in the truck on the road, but also at home.
Who doesn’t love a great cup of coffee? I can tell you I have been enjoying coffee for a very long time and have in the last 5 years or so really gotten into single origin coffees and I haven’t turned back yet. Feel free to geek out with me on coffee!
Every morning must start with at least one great cup of coffee!

So here is my list of amazing coffee gear for road life that you should take with you on your van life/truck camping/RV trips.
COFFEE GEAR FOR ROAD LIFE

Hario Hand Bur Grinder

I fully back this ceramic bur grinder. It is my go to grinder for any trip short or small. I will not use another one. It consistently grinds the coffee well and it is perfect for measuring enough beans for a french press. It is adjustable depending on what your brewing method is, and with a little practice with it you will get the grind right every time.

AeroPress

The Aeropress is a favorite of mine, and I can’t count the times I have used this to make a nice single cup of coffee for myself in the mountains or on the beach. It also seems to mean more to a stranger you meet when you brew them their very own cup. I made a great fried in the mountains of Colorado this way!
Buy it from amazon via this link: AEROPRESS
It is so easy to use, grind up the coffee, flip the Aeropress upside down, pour the ground coffee in, hot water over the grounds. Put the plunger in and let it steep. When ready turn over on a cup and press out your brew. Cleaning is easy too, unscrew the bottom and press the plunger all the way through and the grounds and filter will pop right out. Wipe down and done!

French Press
The Bodum French Press is my choice for most mornings because it is so quick and basically has the built in filter, and makes more coffee. It’s my go to coffee gear for road life. I have one that creates about 2-3 cups of coffee depending how big of a cup you use.
Buy one on Amazon from this link: FRENCH PRESS
They make smaller ones, and larger ones than the one I have as well, you can pick which size suits you. Also, you can find a french press in glass or plastic whatever you prefer. As an added bonus you can steep loose leaf tea in this as well.
Pour Over
I’m a fan of the Hario V60 Pour over for its simplicity. It is a plastic or ceramic pour over, you just need to have some filters for it. They make paper filters, or you can buy reusable metal filters. Place a filter in it, pour in the grounds, place it on a cup and pour the water in. Its that easy.

Git it on Amazon here: Hario V60 Pour Over
You can also go for the Chemex or Bodum if you want the classic glass pour over carafe set up, but pack it safely so it doesn’t break. I usually leave this one at home for home brewing. I’m sure if you must have this style you can find a plastic one out there.

Purchase one on Amazon: CHEMEX POUROVER
Hario Cold Brewer

This cold brewer is great and simple to use. All you have to do is grind the beans and put them in the top of the filter. Pour in the water and let it sit and brew to your desired strength. Or you can make a sun brew coffee and leave it outside in the sun for a while.
Find it on Amazon: COLD BREWER
Instant Coffee
I wouldn’t even waste my time drinking this stuff, but if you must, I have heard Alpine Start Instant Coffee is good. I have also heard good things about Waka Coffee. Other than those, I suggest using any other method for coffee or the gear listed above. Instant coffee for me is a last resort and an insult to coffee. Although, if your into it, then go for it. What ever floats your boat and sinks your anchor.
Buy them on Amazon:
Hario Coffee Scale

Get it at Amazon: HARIO COFFEE SCALE
If you’re like me, you know the importance of weighing out your beans prior to brewing. The Hario scales are nice and aren’t overpriced compared to some scales out there. This scale is also nice for making pour over brews as it has a timer integrated into it.
Yeti Rambler Tumbler

Buy one on Amazon: YETI RAMBLER
The Yeti Rambler is my travel mug. I use it to keep the coffee hot and the other drinks I make cool. Its easy to clean up, and is sturdy as heck. It actually never really leaves my truck.
I clean it after every use, and then it goes right back into my truck for the next time I get coffee so that it stays hot while I slowly sip along on the road. Plus it cuts down on paper cup waste from coffee shops which is the best thing about having it.

Every piece mentioned here is quality coffee gear for road life. I own or have used each one on the list. I may not carry every piece all at once when traveling, but I must have at least a scale, grinder, and a brewing method. So I will carry three things and a bag of coffee with me. Thats about all I need for great coffee!
