I know it looks like a fictional place to be honest, but let me tell you, it is totally real!
Lake Louise
Lake Louise is the subject of many bucket list destinations, instagram posts, post cards, and calendars and for good reason. I haven’t ever been to a place like this in all my travels.

To get to the lakes edge, you can show up extremely early in the morning to get a parking spot.
Down the road though, there is a bus ride area. You can pay a very small fee and park and ride to the edge and they will drop you off at the Lake Louise parking lot.

From the drop off point it is a short walk to the lakes edge. I think of Ron Swanson when he says there are only a few times to cry, at funerals, and at the Grand Canyon, but I don’t think he visited Lake Louise!

I have never been in a place such as this with so much jaw dropping beauty and grandeur. I have said it in a few other blogs but this place created a sense of wonder, awe, and peace within me.
Taking a breath of the cool and crisp air, everything felt right and I felt at such peace. My mind slowed down, and I felt like I almost fell into a trance like state.
No place in the world has made me feel quite like this.
What else can you do here?

Take a hike
Hiking opportunities around Lake Louise seem to be endless. If you have the time, take at least one of the hikes. We mostly stayed on the Lakeshore Trail. I was happy to be there and be so close to the water.

Rent a Canoe
For a price, you can rent a canoe and see the lake from a different perspective. I will be honest it is quite expensive, but probably so worth it to be on the lake.

Hotels on the Lake?
There is one hotel on Lake Louise, that you can stay in right on the edge of the lake with awesome overlooking views. It is the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. I did sneak in while visiting the lake and checked it out, I will say that it is quite beautiful inside.
You can camp out anywhere near by, and have a way better view of everything around you, rather than be sheltered by four walls on all sides. I wrote a post on where we camped nearby.

Lake Louise needs to be added to your bucket list and i’m sure you would agree. I hope you get the chance to see this miraculous lake at some point in your life. I know i’m fortunate that I got the chance!
Check out some of the other easily accessible lakes through out this awesome national park on my other blog post about the top lakes to see in Banff National Park.

That canoe picture is sick! Wow. Beautiful place.
Thank you! It truly is a magnificent place to be! I can’t wait to go back some day!
Love the Ron Swanson reference – such a great character! Lake Louise is gorgeous, but I haven’t been in many years so it’s nice to see pictures again.
Ron Swanson is one of my heroes! You should try to make a trip back out there soon. I day dream about going again someday!
Just from your pictures I can see why you were so taken by this place, Eric! It’s like two dimensions sliced up against each other providing an entrance point – yes, absolutely amazing! 😊
Yes! This place was absolutely incredible! My only regret is I didn’t get to stay longer! Thank you for visiting!
Ain’t it like that w/the best places, just not long enough time there for what one would love to absorb! ❤️
I totally agree with that! More time = more memories, but I also appreciate the time that I did get there!
Beautiful photos. Enchanted area.
Thank you very much!
